Psychological help for burnout
Burnout does not come from laziness. It comes from living too long without recovery: work, home, caring, war, emigration.
- What is it?
- Burnout is emotional exhaustion, cynicism or detachment from the work, and a drop in felt effectiveness. It is a system signal, not a verdict that you are weak.
Signs
- Indifference where you used to care
- Irritability with colleagues and family
- Worse sleep and focus
- A sense that “I am gone”
- Body fatigue a weekend cannot fix
Causes
- Chronic overload
- No boundaries
- Responsibility for everyone
- Lack of recognition
- Long environmental stress

Frequently asked questions
Are burnout and depression the same?
No. They can overlap, but burnout is more tied to role and load. Lasting emptiness and hopelessness need a wider assessment.
Will a holiday fix it?
Briefly, yes. If a week later you are back in the same regime, you need a different way of living, not only sleep.
I help others. Is it normal to feel empty?
Yes. This is common burnout in people who hold others. Exhaustion is not proof that you are bad.
Do I have to quit my job?
Not always. First we look at limits, meaning, and recovery. The job decision is yours, not a therapist homework task.
